Getting Started

Openlawoffice.com is a wiki style web site designed to assist people in sharing legal knowledge.  Our goal is to create practical legal reference articles in various areas of the law, as well as to share helpful briefs and motions

• To create an article, brief, or motion, please enter its name above and click on the button.  At the end of the name, please include a forward slash followed by an abbreviation of the correct jurisdiction.  For example, "Fourth Amendment/Fed" or "Anti-Slap Statutes/CA" 
• Then add content using wikitext or the more user friendly FCKeditor. 
• Finally, select the correct category (area of law) at the bottom of the page and click save.  For now, all articles should be assigned to just one category. 
• To create a new category, set the editor to "wikitext."  Then, at the end of the article, enter "Category:" followed by the name of the category surrounded by double brackets.  Please include an abbreviation of the appropriate jurisdiction right before the name.  For example:

  [[Category:NY Criminal Law]]
